Following a major diplomatic breakthrough, North Korea will send hundreds of people to the Winter Olympics in South Korea in February, including its famous cheerleading squad. The highly-vetted, all-female cheer squad is comprised of young women selected from the country's universities music schools, and local propaganda groups. The women are usually in their early 20s, but some are younger. Before joining the squad, Pyongyang carries out background checks on all candidates since patriotism is a must for the group. The squad is rarely seen in the Western world and most available imagery of the group is at least ten years old.
